Microneedling Aftercare: Your First 72 Hours

Microneedling sets your skin’s renewal process in motion. What you do in the first few days helps protect that process and keeps you comfortable while you heal.

Here is the simple timeline I share with my guests. Always follow the specific instructions on your NORRENNE care card, since every plan is individualized.

Day 0: Treatment day

  • Expect redness and warmth, similar to a mild sunburn.

  • Leave your skin alone for the first several hours. No makeup.

  • Use only the gentle products recommended at your visit.

  • Sleep on a clean pillowcase.

Day 1

  • Cleanse gently with lukewarm water and a mild cleanser. Pat dry, don’t rub.

  • Apply the recommended hydrating, soothing serum or moisturizer.

  • Begin daily mineral sunscreen if you will be outside, and stay out of direct sun.

  • Skip workouts that make you sweat heavily.

Days 2–3

  • Redness usually fades. Skin may feel tight or dry, and light flaking is normal.

  • Do not pick or exfoliate. Let it shed on its own.

  • Mineral makeup can usually be reintroduced after 24–48 hours if your skin is comfortable.

What to avoid for about a week

  • Retinoids, acids (AHA, BHA, vitamin C), and scrubs

  • Saunas, hot yoga, swimming pools, and hot tubs

  • Tanning and prolonged sun exposure

  • Waxing or other facial treatments unless cleared

When to call

Mild redness, tightness, and dryness are expected. Contact NORRENNE if you notice increasing pain, swelling, pus, fever, blistering, or anything that simply doesn’t feel right. I would always rather hear from you.

The payoff

Your skin is building new collagen for weeks after treatment. Gentle care, consistent sunscreen, and patience protect that investment and help your next session build on the last.
